Roy Dias MOM Knock vs Pakistan at Sharjah in 1984

 

Roy Dias scored a patience innings of 57 Not Out off 95 Balls 1 Four vs Pakistan in the 1st Match, at Sharjah, played on April 06, 1984, in the first ever Rothmans Asia Cup. Roy Dias played a determined innings mainly consist of one and two’s as per match requirement. He held the innings at one end and keep the scoreboard ticking, eventually goes past the Pakistan target and win the match by 5 wickets. Lets watch Roy Dias innings.

This was Sri Lanka memorable ODI win over Pakistan, who was missing some of their key players. It was a patience innings, as Roy Dias move the scoreboard slowly but effectively. This was ODI # 259, and match umpires were Dickie Bird and Swaroop Kishen.

Ali Naqvi Test Debut Century vs South Africa in 1997 at Rawalpindi

 

Ali Naqvi scored brilliant century on test debut against strong South Africa bowling Attack, consisting of Allan Donald, Shaun Pollock, Brett Shcultz, Brian McMillan, Pat Symcox and Jack Kallis. He scored 115 off 270 balls in 352 mins including 14  fours in the 1st Test at Rawalpindi in Oct 1997.

Despite century on test debut, he played 5 test matches for Pakistan scoring 242 runs in 9 test innings at an average of 30.25 including 31 fours and 1 catch.

Despite a brilliant test career start, he was suddenly fall and could not rise. Do you think, he deserve more chances to prove himself at test level or was lucky to represent in an ear when Pakistan batting dominated with high quality players. In First-Class cricket, Naqvi featured in 115 matches,  amassing 5,898 runs in 179 innings  at an average of 35.00, including 14 centuries and 24 fifties, with a highest score of 180. With the ball, he delivered 6,484 balls, claiming 102 wickets at 28.50 apiece, including one five-wicket haul (best figures 5/65), and took 48 catches

In List A games, he appeared 64 times, scoring 2,423 runs at a fine average of 43.27, boasting 8 centuries and 13 fifties, with 248 fours and 26 sixes . He also took 24 wickets from 1,467 deliveries, at an economy of 5.10, with the best of 3 for 17 and held 18 catches.

In the shortest format, T20 cricket, Naqvi played 5 matches, scoring 183 runs at a striking rate of around 159.13, including 1 half-century, with 18 fours and 5 sixes and grabbed 2 wickets.He also bowled 102 balls, taking 2 wickets at an economy of 8.12 . At the Test level, he played 5 matches for Pakistan, making 242 runs at an average of 30.25, including his famous 115 on debut, along with 31 fours .

Arshad Ayub took 5 wickets for 117 52 Overs 11 Mdns vs West Indies in the First Innings of 3rd Test played at Port of Spain, in Apr 1989. Although West Indies won the match by 217 runs.
